The beginning is not promising. It just sounds a bit silly. As in slapstick silly but if you bear with the book for about....10 pages then it starts to get interesting.
The setting is that there was some kind of bio chemical genetic leak which resulted in humankind being decimated. Only the undead, witches wres etc... were immune. Which led to their 'coming out as such.
The story centers around a witch, a vampire and a pixie who all work as some form of law enforcement.
